I have so many friends that want to have the wanderlust mentality that I do but don’t know where to start so I want to help. Not only them but to help whoever else is out there dreaming of learning a new Latin dance in South America, bathing elephants in Nepal, or riding a bike next to waterways in Amsterdam while sitting on their couch debating on what type of take out to order. I first got this travel bug when I was 13 years old and it has taken me ten years to act on it. Why so long? I was comfortable. Comfortable with my job since I was number one in sales, comfortable in any relationship I was in because “it was the right thing to do”, and overall just comfortable with my routine. I did make some amazing memories in college with my girlfriends but for the most part I forgot what I actually wanted to do with my life. Now when people tell me their travel goals immediately without hesitation I always say “Go for it!!” While the acronym “YOLO” makes many of us shake our heads, it’s a great motivator. You only live once is a perfect motto for going after what you really want in life and I intend to influence people to take action. Sure you’ll learn about other cultures, languages, and history with textbooks and lectures in school but once you actually visit these places and meet new people you gain so much more than anything you can imagine in the comforts of your home or school. Traveling can be scary and intimidating but with a little boost of confidence and an open mind you can use that power to take you anywhere.
Start small. A little volunteer work or mini vacation outside your state (if you’re reading this in the U.S.), or even just one country over can help you gain a little experience and if you expand your boundaries little by little you’ll be fearless and you will feel like you can go almost anywhere. I plan on traveling mostly solo and I’ll document it all so you can follow along. We will start small in the country of Spain and then eventually expand to other countries and eventually, we will conquer the world. Almost like old world explorers except we will use airplanes, GPS units, use cameras to document our discoveries, and probably smell a lot better. Point is, get out there! Go see the world and everything it has to offer. If you think you “can’t afford it”, we will search cheaper hostels, easier ways to get around town, and find hidden deals around the country. I’m here to inspire, motivate, and guide you to the language, culture, food, and lands of Spain. It’s a magnificent country that I am passionate about and I know that you’ll want to visit.
